We are a family of animal lovers and are never happier than when we are spending time caring for and loving the many species living with us. Our immediate family consists of Larry and Kay along with our daughter Michelle and her teenage son Hunter. We migrated from Iowa to Buffalo, Missouri about 15 years ago and live in a convenient rural location about 25 miles north of Springfield, Missouri. We love the beauty, fresh air and freedom of living in this area. We have lovely meadows, beautiful woods and a spring-fed creek meandering through it all. It is a wonderful place for Miniature and Toy Australian Shepherds along with all of our animals to frolic and thrive. The Miniature and Toy Australian Shepherd puppies and adults at Larka are handled daily on an individual basis. Each develops its personality and we know the traits of each puppy so we may help the potential customer find a perfect pet for their family. Puppies are raised with our family and other family pets so they become socialized and ready to accept new situations. Our puppies are healthy and guaranteed to be free of disease at the time of transfer to the new owner. They are up to date on immunization and worming with health certificate and vet certificate. We believe the Australian Shepherd to be the ideal pet. The breed is intelligent, willing to learn and loyal to its master. The miniature is best for our family because the size makes it an ideal for indoors or outdoors. They do need to have an opportunity to exercise vigorously on a daily basis. We do have several Toy Australian Shepherd males and females which are under 14". This is a great pet for a smaller home or apartment. They have all traits of the larger miniature only in a small package. Our parents range in size from 9 inch Toy to 16 1/2 miniature, red merles, blue merles, red tris and black tris. Prices of puppies can begin at $300 and range to $1200 . With the difficult economy, we frequently reduce prices to keep pace with the market. Keeping up with expenses and striving to make improvements is a huge challenge, but finding suitable homes for our "babies" is our first priority. Our dogs are registered American Stock Dog Registry with several generations of Miniature Australian Shepherd Registration. Contrary to the advertising on many websites, the Miniature Australian Shepherd is not recognized by AKC . AKC states in their website: Size--The preferred height for males is 20-23 inches, females 18-21 inches.
